Fair enough :)

Yes - the omission of format was noticed! Content must be "freed" !(http://idioplatform.com/2010/11/content-must-be-freed-not-necessarily-free/).

I'm impressed by the openness and commitment you show through this blog. Let me know if I can ever buy you lunch in London to speak further.

Andrew,

Thanks for your comment and I agree. I'd argue that I was meaning to imply track under analyze, but I think I muddled up user-analytics vs. publisher-analytics in the post and I think both are critical. Particularly, for what I call "east coast" publishers, I think track and analyze need to be on the list. (And note the omission for "format"!)

I think the only one I would add is "track" it. We work with some huge brands and publishers - and are pushing the envelope in the next stage of "content management" - not only knowing basic usage stats, but building robust top-level readership insight and individual profile data around tastes, preferences and behaviours that inform service and content delivery in the future.

The loop of "publish-track-learn-publish" can then be completed!
