Hey Dave,

I'm a co-founder of a software start-up here in the SF Bay Area. I'm in the process of completing my "Pitch Deck", Executive summary, and.. a Pre-viz video. It appears that what you're suggesting is despite not having those completed (yet) I should be tapping into and using my resourceful network as it is available to me NOW. So when the time comes I will have already established the relationship?

I've been told in the past as a "standard rule" that before any Angles or VC's decide to become a capital partner they want to see a Beta Product, amongst some of the other aforementioned things. What would you suggest I ask my network to help me with as I'm working to complete those things? I mean, obviously I wouldn't want to scare them away by coming at them with $ signs in my eyes.

Thanks for the insight. I found this insightful.

Dave: Please don't do this. I am sure you always think hard and take decisive decisions but in this please hear your regular readers out. Correspondents and commentators have their sources too! They don't write everything. They write what will educate the readers while also protecting their cause\sources. I am thinking you don't like such boundaries. You want to do it as freely as you have done so far or not do it at all. That is classic Dave right there. Well fair enough! how about this... Why don't you continue to write and release the blog with a delay of say 12 months? 24 months? whatever you think would be appropriate. Your thoughts and instincts are way too precious for your readers to miss. Please keep writing. As for publishing, we are willing to wait! Whatever you do, please don't stop writing!

There's a lot of wisdom contained herein Dave, so while I'm sad to see you stop, I'd ask you to keep the existing posts available as your blog has always been something of an oasis of wisdom amid a whole lot of nonsense out there.

Thanks,

I'm sorry to read this announcement. I've been a fan since back when you'd take Convera (remember them?) to task in your former role. They were a client at the time, but I respected your views and how you expressed them.

I see your point about more possible conflicts in an operational role, but that has a simple fix. Simply never discuss anything you learn in confidence. Done. Also echo former commenter that it seems strange that Salesforce, having purchased Radian6 and making a big socmed push, wouldn't want their executives leading by example. That's what you've done for years now.

Best wishes in the future.

I'm with Timo - Why delete anything.

I swing by periodically. I'd get reminded of my BOBJ meetings and the fun off-sites. I'd get my DK boost and leave!

eg Your penultimate post was a shot in the arm for me on my new gigg at List.ly- The Marketing Expertise Shift. I'm doing it, but you bring a focus.

You have a way of curating the world that brings clarity and perspective. I think that's the word for you "Curator" - You are about the best "Curator" I've had the pleasure of working with. You curate as curation should be done.

I'm sure it makes so much sense to me as I've seen your content emerge. I've seen you gather and filter. I've seen the end result. It's a rare talent.

I'm sure it's a time suck and negative ROI. I'm sure you will still share fresh insight on directions and trends.

You know I'm a big fan. A Kellboy!
